Frankly, I have not read the book, and the film is currently absent at the box office, so it is possible to check the authenticity of what is happening on the screen only by excerpts of “living cinema”, periodically erupting in the screensaver. However, there is nothing to complain about, there is nothing else to wait for the official game for the motives. It is enough to recall King Kong or Transformers: The Game. True, there is a different, not so positive feature of such games: as a rule, the only serious goal that developers set for themselves is to increase the box office collections of the film due to the game and vice versa, respectively, respectively. In any case, such a goal is always faced with the publisher’s marketers, and the developers do not have to argue with them. Harsh terms and lack of freedom for creativity are the most minimum of troubles that threaten the last. But there is nothing to be done here, the market has long been laid out into a clear range of options, where the extremes are “brilliant and incomprehensible creation” and “gum for casuals that heard the ringing”.

It’s a pity, but Golden Compass is closer to the second. Behind the soul he has the average quality of the graph, a set of good ideas, convenient management and a pleasant license – in this world, despite the obvious childhood of a fairy tale, it is interesting to visit. Unfortunately, no more than once.

Yes, Golden Compass is a prefix game. No, not developed at once for several platforms, namely ported. The graphics talk about this in the first place. To begin with, we took away the smoothing. Looking at the shoots of crests on the next game element, at times I want to put it at an obscene. Sometimes there are unhealthy problems with the perspective – but, fortunately, rarely. Water brings a joke about the drowning of uranium scraps in mercury. But-the complete absence of brakes on a more or less modern system and with a maximum of settings. Good implementation of animal wool, and there are plenty of them there. However, such wool was remembered, even in the demo of the fourth GeForce. Model characters acceptable from afar near, in my modest look, monstrous. And nothing else. I advise you to pay special attention to the heroine’s hair in the game and film stations. In general, I can say one thing – there is nothing outstanding in the schedule.

Next is management and interface. There is a double BetswaggerCasino impression. On the one hand, everything is convenient, as it should be in a game of this kind. On the other hand, the slurred implementation of everything that goes beyond the boundaries of the “run/jump/throw, what happened”. Access to the Golden Compass, aka alethiometer, is realized terribly. Well, here: the compass itself – about it later – united with a diary, information on tasks and a book of tractes (Reading Book in the original). All together it opens from the main menu. But the button is not highlighted. Original? Not the same word. It takes more effort to turn the pages of the diary than on the same operation with a real book. Horror. I am silent that it would be possible to make a normal camera instead of local disgrace. Fights with fights, but when it comes to acrobatics, half of the falls falls on a leap incorrectly designed due to the fault of the virtual operator.

Then there is a plot and fascination. Here the game would break into the leaders – but nothing. The plot is served too slurred. As if through cotton wool or something. It seems to be visible – interesting things are happening around – but it turns out to be imbued with great difficulty. I understand that the game should force young players to immediately give the film, but somehow it’s all dishonest. From the beginning, we tear from a place in the quarry, without explanation – riding in the armored person, laying out wolves, a fight with a shaman of the tribe of samoyeds. Then a long and slurred delayed prelude. In the middle of the game it suddenly turns out that nothing really happened. We are carrying to catch up. After such tenderness, Beyond Good and Evil is in particular tenderness.

With all this, “good ideas” still have. Yes, the developers were too lazy to prescribe multi -page dialogs with answers options – in such a game, this. Instead, there are ten seconds for ten seconds. Won – pronounce the right replica. The compass is also very interesting, he is “a thing that answers any question”. I will not describe the principle of its use, built -in learning and so quite intrusive. It’s a pity, the game is too friendly – the tips are scattered around the district. But it is much more interesting to choose the symbols yourself, trying to find logic – and it is present!

A separate paragraph I highlight the conservation. No, I understand perfectly well that in the game for SNES or even the PlayStation place for saves had to be saved. But now. Gentlemen, developers, tell me honestly, you ever thought that the game is still a child? You know what the average mother will say to an average child when she calls him dinner, and he will “interpret the level” for another twenty minutes, then that the exit from the game will entail the passage of the level from the very first?

Finally, in fact, about the license. Despite the indistinctly served plot, the atmosphere is present and even manages to cling to the living. But, as luck would have it, it is here that there are no merits of developers at all. It is the atmosphere of the universe that the atmosphere is clinging, but not an attempt to draw us into what is happening.

IN Golden Compass you can really play, and minor troubles do not spoil the atmosphere.
